Website + bookings
Smokelands BBQ, Cafe & Bar
An Australian smokehouse with online bookings and sharp local SEO.
The project
A complete site for a Texas-style BBQ restaurant on the Tweed Coast: a browsable menu, online bookings that land straight in an admin dashboard, and a local SEO layer built for both Google and AI answer engines.
The challenge
The venue was opening with a new menu and no site of its own: every booking came through phone calls and Instagram DMs, and they were invisible for searches like "BBQ Pottsville". They needed something a hospitality team could run without touching code.
The solution
Astro in static mode renders every page at build time, so the full menu — each dish, price and allergen — is crawlable text rather than a PDF. On top sit two React islands: the booking form, which writes to Firestore, and a private dashboard where staff confirm or cancel each table. The hero runs a three.js smoke animation that degrades gracefully on weaker devices.
